🌬️The Run the Blades running festival took place on the Glasgow Fair weekend at the Whitelee Windfarm on the Eaglesham Moor. The location provides some spectacular scenery and some challenging rolling hills.
The terrain is mainly on paths the first of the events, the 10k, took place on the Friday (14/07). It was followed by the flagship 50k race on the Saturday with the festival closed following the half marathon on the Sunday.
🌱 Trail runs have grown enormously in popularity, and five Harriers took on the challenge.

🏆Colin Reilly and Rhian Dawes secured maiden victories at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on a blistering night of racing at Bellahouston Harriers’ flagship event.
🥇Reilly, of Cambuslang Harriers, ran clear of the field on the second lap of the course through and around Pollok Park to win the race by 11 seconds in a time of 32:16, with Bellahouston Road Runners’ 🥈 Tony Connelly in second. 🥉Greg Templeton of Bellahouston Harriers claimed third – and the shield awarded for first host club runner home – in a time of 32:31.

💙 The Eala Bahn was the venue for the Harrier's annual Christmas night out. The 2021 night out was cancelled due to Covid and rearranged for March 2022 therefore unusually this was the club's second Christmas event of 2022!
🔥 Becky Simister was the lead organiser for the event and all available places were sold out. The Eala Bahn provided a warm welcome to all Harriers and the evening went extremely well.

Competitive races for the men’s and women’s prizes are anticipated at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on Friday night, with two-time Olympian Callum Hawkins adding star quality to a stacked entry list for Bellahouston Harriers’ flagship event.
Hawkins, defending his title from 2019, is expected to be joined on the start line by his brother Derek – a fellow Rio 2016 marathoner – as well as a host of other top-class club runners on what promises to be another memorable night in Pollok Park.

We held the April Virtual 2-Mile Time Trial, although there was nothing virtual about the huffing and puffing to achieve the times! We had 58 entries submitted which is great - so great, we’re gonna do it all again in May so that you may compare how many Quarintini’s you’ve been drinking, how many trips to the fridge, and how it’s all impacting your times!
Out of our 58 entrants, Gregor was 1st Male in 9:34, and Kristina 1st Female in 12:29, congrats both.
