๐Ÿ†Colin Reilly and Rhian Dawes secured maiden victories at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on a blistering night of racing at Bellahouston Harriersโ€™ flagship event.

๐Ÿฅ‡Reilly, of Cambuslang Harriers, ran clear of the field on the second lap of the course through and around Pollok Park to win the race by 11 seconds in a time of 32:16, with Bellahouston Road Runnersโ€™ ๐Ÿฅˆ Tony Connelly in second. ๐Ÿฅ‰Greg Templeton of Bellahouston Harriers claimed third โ€“ and the shield awarded for first host club runner home โ€“ in a time of 32:31.

๐Ÿฅ‡For Dawes, her winning time of 36:30 was a personal best effort for 10k on the road โ€“ superb running on such a hot night. The Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC runner needed her best to better Inverness Harriers ๐ŸฅˆJenny Bannerman โ€“ the three-time former winner of the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k finished just 13 seconds behind in second place. ๐Ÿฅ‰Yvonne McNairn of Giffnock North A.C. took the final podium position, crossing the line in a time of 37:54.

๐Ÿ’™ In total, there were 395 finishers, with the top seven all under 33 minutes, 24 runners under 35 minutes, and 52 finishers sub-37.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Bellahouston Harriers president Mark Matheson said: โ€œOn behalf of the club, I would like to thank all participants and the army of volunteers who helped make the event happen. We hope everyone enjoyed the event โ€“ we certainly loved hosting it and are thankful for the good weather that helped support such a great atmosphere during the race and afterwards.โ€

โ€œHuge congratulations to all our prize winners โ€“ in particular, Colin and Rhian โ€“ for fantastic running on such a warm night for racing,โ€ he added. โ€œAll prizes not presented on the night will be sent out in the coming days. Finally, special thanks to our fantastic race partners Migo Sports, Glasgow City Physiotherapy, and J Thomson Colour Printers, to Perfect Timing, and to Tunnocks, AG Barr, Sainsburyโ€™s and Tesco for their support too with goody bag items.

๐Ÿคฉ We are already looking forward to the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k 2024!โ€ โœ๐Ÿป- Stuart Miller ๐Ÿ“ท - Daren Borzynski Photography
