πThe West District Championship returned to Ayrshire on a bright, but cold, afternoon last Saturday on a course adjacent to the Ayrshire Athletics Arena. The course conditions were good for the senior 8.5k events.
π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ The event comprised of individual and team events and a large contingent of 36 Harriers took part.
βοΈTwo junior members took on the Under-15 challenge with Alistair Munro running well to finish in 43rd place in 17:03 for the 4K run. Lexie Speirs finished in 21:45. Both represented the club well! π€©
ππΌββοΈThe ladies team were again led home by Kristina Greig in 37:25 followed by Marianne Wilson in 38:47, with Katherine Hylands and Claire McCormick counting for the team competition finishing in 8th. The club's women's masters team of Marianne Wilson, Claire McCormick and Angela Campbell also finished 8th.
ππ»22 men entered and there were many excellent runs on the day. Amongst the counters for the male team were Ian Carroll, Jack Arnold, John Carr, Fraser Armstrong and Matthew Brown who finished in 6th place out of the 17 teams entered. The master's men's team which, included Iain Carroll and Brent Brodie, narrowly missed out on a medal finishing 4th.
