โ๏ธ Tollcross parkrun was bathed in warm sunshine for last Saturdayโs parkrun, which formed the 10th fixture in our Summer Championship. 41 Harriers were treated to the park looking at its best, with the refurbished glasshouse and the rose garden in full bloom.
๐๐ป Adam Stark was the winner in a time of 17:24 - this placed Adam as the fastest Harrier ever to compete at Tollcross. Donald MacLaren was 2nd Harrier home in a fine time of 18:06, grabbing a new PB. Sam Kelly, in fine form, also claimed a PB with a time of 19:18, finishing in 7th place.

๐ฌ๏ธThe Run the Blades running festival took place on the Glasgow Fair weekend at the Whitelee Windfarm on the Eaglesham Moor. The location provides some spectacular scenery and some challenging rolling hills.
The terrain is mainly on paths the first of the events, the 10k, took place on the Friday (14/07). It was followed by the flagship 50k race on the Saturday with the festival closed following the half marathon on the Sunday.

๐Colin Reilly and Rhian Dawes secured maiden victories at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on a blistering night of racing at Bellahouston Harriersโ flagship event.
๐ฅReilly, of Cambuslang Harriers, ran clear of the field on the second lap of the course through and around Pollok Park to win the race by 11 seconds in a time of 32:16, with Bellahouston Road Runnersโ ๐ฅ Tony Connelly in second. ๐ฅGreg Templeton of Bellahouston Harriers claimed third โ and the shield awarded for first host club runner home โ in a time of 32:31.

๐ Harriers begin summer championships at Elder Park
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Bellahouston Harriers received a warm welcome at Elder Park parkrun on Saturday 29 April as the clubโs summer championships got underway with a string of โ๐ ฟ๏ธ๐ ฑ๏ธโ performances.
๐ซถ More than 5๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ members โ seniors and juniors โ congregated in Govan for a blast over the 5k distance, with the cool but calm conditions ideal for running.
๐ณ The Elder Park route comprises of a flat but twisty course with a smaller first lap and then ๐ 3 laps of around 1300 metres.

๐ณ The 59th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races took place at Strathclyde Park on the 2nd of April 2023. Some late adjustments to the route were made due to ๐ธ construction work within the park.
๐ The sold-out race was run in excellent conditions, providing a true test of the effectiveness of participants running fitness going into the spring season.

๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ The Scottish National Road Relays took place at Livingston on the traditional course for the fifteenth time. The event consists of teams of 6 men and 4 women.
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ Two complete teams of women Harriers travelled the 30-mile trip to Livingston to take part. The first of the Harriers team got off to a good start with a 21:37 recorded by Emma Rogerson. The second Harrier, Kristina Greig, ran 38:33 on the longer second leg. Angela Campbell had another excellent run clocking 23:06. The team was anchored home by Katherine Hylands in a time of 42:49. This clinched 14th place for the team.

๐ง๏ธ It was wet, it was windy, it was Greenock in March for the 5-mile race which in corporates the Renfrewshire 5 mile championship.
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ This well organised race, starting and finishing in Battery Park, has always attracted a good number of Harriers, and the 2023 edition, saw club members enter in large numbers once again.
๐๐ป It was an exceptional day's racing and one of joy for the Harriers with Jack Heathwood winning the race ๐ฅ and the championship event, with David Macintosh ๐ฅ taking second in both events.

๐ The Blue Riband of the cross-country season took place at Callender Park in very good running conditions. The eagerly awaited Scottish National XC Championships saw large numbers finish, the menโs race saw 675 and 307 women completing the strenuous 10k course. 29 Harriers, including 2 juniors, took on the challenge.

๐ณ Last Saturday saw the eagerly anticipated Mob Match between ๐ Bellahouston Harriers and ๐ Bellahouston Road Runners held at Pollok parkrun. This was the 7๏ธโฃth running of the event and provides the opportunity for club members to participate in a 5k run and thereafter go back to Cartha for some coffee and rolls. โ๐ฅ
๐ฆ The event survived the pandemic by adopting a virtual approach, and this was the second post-Covid run. An incredible 1๏ธโฃ3๏ธโฃ1๏ธโฃ participants entered, with Bellahouston Road Runners fielding 69 to Bellahouston Harriers 62.

๐ The Nigel Barge Memorial 10k was held on the 22nd of January and doubled up as the West's 10k Road Running Championship. The event has been run by Maryhill Harriers for 80 years and consists of an undulating two-lap course starting and finishing at the Garscube Complex. The event was part of our Club Championship and attracted 26 Harriers in a sold-out field of 400.
