Brian Goodwin 10k Race Day Information

Thank you for entering the Brian Goodwin 10k. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 16th June, 2017. The race starts at 7.30pm.

We hope the following information will be useful to you on race day.

Registration will be located at Cartha Rugby Club, 92 Dumbreck Road, Glasgow, G41 4SN. You can collect your race number (incorporating your race chip) from 5.30 until 7, thirty minutes before the race starts. There are limited toilet and changing facilities at Cartha, and a space for bags to be left, although this is at the owner's risk.

We request that all participants attend a safety briefing at 7.25, outside the rugby club. Following this, participants will follow a piper to the start of the race.

At registration, you'll be given a voucher for a beer and burger after the race. We can't provide replacements, so please don't lose it!

Getting to the race

If you're travelling by car, exit the M77 at Junction 1, and turn South onto Dumbreck Road, before taking a right hand turn into Pollok park. Cartha is then the first turn on the left. Please note parking in the grounds of Cartha is likely to be limited, and you will not be able to remove your car until after the race is complete. You may also wish to consider parking in the areas around St. Andrew's Drive, or Mosspark Boulevard.

Travelling by train: the nearest stations are Dumbreck on the Paisley Canal line and Maxwell Park on the Cathcart circle/ Newton line. Both stations are approximately 15 minutes walk away from Cartha.

By bus: the 34 or 34A operated by First bus will drop you on Dumbreck Road, round the corner from Cartha. The 59 bus operated by McGills drops off on Mosspark Boulevard, a short walk from Cartha.

The course

The race starts around 2 minutes walk from registration. It consists of 2 laps. A course map can be viewed at

The race will have marshals at regular intervals, and kilometre markers. There will be a water station around the 5k mark.

We are unable to stop traffic for the duration of the race, and so you may encounter some on the route. Please follow instructions provided by the marshals where necessary. A safety briefing prior to the race will be provided to raise awareness of any potential issues.

Please inform a marshall if you feel unwell whilst running, or unable to continue the race.

Medical cover will be provided for the event by St. Andrew's Ambulance. This will be located near Cartha Rugby Club.

Please note due to Scottish Athletics rules the wearing of headphones during this race is forbidden.

Finishing the race

On finishing the race, your chip will register your time, and you should be able to pick this up from StuWeb shortly after finishing. Goodie bags will be provided, and you can head towards Cartha to collect your beer and burger. The bar in Cartha Rugby Club will be open after the race for runners and supporters to use.

This will take place in the clubhouse after the race, once results and prize winners have been finalised. Prizes are available in the following categories:
