Bella quizzers raise hundreds

Members and friends of Bellahouston Harriers raised nearly £600 for a cancer charity and a Kenyan school project at the annual club quiz night.

Staged just hours after the Harriers had 39 runners participating at the National Cross Country Championships in Falkirk, the event was the perfect opportunity to reflect on a great day's racing and test whether brain power could match the leg power on show earlier.

Quizmasters Jack Arnold and Kenny Taylor, the Harriers' own Vic and Bob, once again dazzled the room full of quizzers at Queen's Park Bowling Club with their glitter jackets, unique patter and challenging questions.

Teams were tested on their knowledge of everything from TV theme tunes and features of Glasgow parks, to Scottish club running vests. At the end of the night it was the blend of Anthony Carson, Gael McCallum, Kristina Greig and Laura Ritchie, ably assisted by dog Charlie, that prevailed - congratulations guys!

Through the generosity of quiz-goers and members who supported the raffle, Clic Sargent and the Gathimba Edwards Foundation will receive cheques for £450 and £150 respectively. Thanks to everyone who supported the event and helped make it happen - we can't wait for next year already!
